Head Start Re-Open Letter: Update

Dear Families,

Every week we review the COVID-19 status of our community. Since there has been a decline in COVID-19 cases and vaccinations are underway; we have decided to reopen for in-person teaching on Monday, February 22, 2021. We will still offer a virtual option to families who are not ready to return to the centers.

Please keep in mind that every staff person returning to the centers completes a COVID-19 testing prior to February 22, 2021. There is also the option for any family member to receive free testing at our main office on Fridays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. To sign up for testing, please visit: https://healthcollab.org/testandprotect for pre-registration. We will remain closed on Fridays for in-person teaching in order to sanitize and clean the classrooms. Families will receive a “power pack” box on Thursdays to take home for the weekend.

We ask that you follow the drop-off and pick-up procedure and to contact your center’s principle to inform him or her of when your child plans to return to the center as soon as possible.

We know this has been difficult for many families and we look forward to serving your family for in-person teaching. For families not planning to return to in-person teaching, we encourage you to continue to take advantage of our services offered at this time such as:

  • Timeout Tuesday
  • Ready Rosie Parenting Curriculum
  • Meal Pick-Up
  • Virtual learning boxes
  • Virtual Library Hour
  • Speech and Language Screening
  • Policy Council Book Club

Again, let me thank you for your support and understanding as we, as a community and a nation, have responded to the sweeping impact of the pandemic. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to your center’s principal.
