Educational Resources For Parents and Children

Disabilities

  • Your central “Hub” of information and products created for the network of Parent Centers serving families of children with disabilities.

    All the materials found on the CPIR Hub have been created and archived for Parent Centers around the country to help them provide support and services to the families they serve. The CPIR employs a user-centered process, gathering the perspectives of our experienced audience—Parent Center staff members and other experts—every step of the way, to create products and services that increase Parent Centers’ knowledge and capacity in specific domains.

  • This website has information for parents of children with special needs. Listed are Informational Tip Sheets on various topics that can be downloaded and printed. In addition, there are sample letters for parents to be able to click on, print and use as a template for their own child's letter.

Reading to Your Child

  • Bedtime stories play an important role in your child’s development. Not only do bedtime stories create an opportunity for parents to bond with their kids, but reading to a little one at the same time night after night can help them establish a healthy sleep routine. Child psychologists also point to the cognitive benefits for young people who are raised with bedtime stories, including higher-than-average literacy rates and an emotional connection to reading.

  • Inspire a lifetime of learning and discovery with our free, fun educational program for children ages two to six. Kids can learn independently in the the Khan Academy Kids Library—a curated collection of activities, books, videos, and coloring pages. Our book reader allows students to follow along with recorded audio narration or read on their own across our fiction, non-fiction and fiction leveled books.
